On a recent offshore trip we went looking for Hogfish. We anchored up on a good piece of hard bottom in 45 feet of water. These fish are known for migrating in shallower waters of the Gulf of Mexico in the winter months and providing anglers with some amazing table fare. We were outfitted with spinning rods with 10 pound test line and 30 pound fluorocarbon leader with 2 ounce egg sinkers. The number two hooks were tipped with live shrimp on knocker rigs. By the end of the trip we had our limit of Hogs along with some nice Mangrove Snapper and porgies.
